I am living testament that if you take small steps and make choices based on a higher purpose, you will experience miraculous shifts in your life. No matter how hopeless your situation may seem, if you continuously make the choice that serves a higher good and not just what gives you immediate and temporary gratification, you will end up in a space that is immensely different from the one in which you began.
No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it. - Albert Einstein
Embedded within our daily routines and habits of today are the stories and plot lines of our tomorrows. Whether you are currently experiencing a large peak or a large valley in your life at this time, you probably did not get there overnight. And even though unexpected events are unavoidable, the outcome and impact of these critical moments are largely influenced by choices we made before the crisis was a blip on the radar of our lives. Did we make choices that strengthened our foundations for the future so we can weather the most exhausting of storms, or did we choose to do what was easiest but shortsighted and unwise?
Imagine that you had to write an important article, essay or report for work or school, and instead of taking the time to think about your overall message and intention while developing an outline and creating a narrative that the reader could follow, you simply wrote a sentences about the scattered thoughts that popped into your mind at random times of day. This may sound ridiculous, but this is how we often write the stories of our lives and then wonder how we end up where we are. Having dreams and goals are important but, so is ordering our choices in line with our goals and dreams. This may seem obvious but it is very easy to forget when doing this thing we call life. We can become entrenched in drama, fear and struggle so easily that we panic and lose sight of our big pictures, making choices to stave off the immediate anxiety and stress we experience day to day. We go into this survival mode, most of the decisions we make become only about surviving, not thriving.
If we do not make a conscious decision to interrupt the pattern and stop the vicious cycle, we become hamsters in the wheel - working very hard to stay exactly where we are instead of breaking the habit and choosing freedom. We have to make different choices in order to end up in different spaces and different places, no matter how hard this may seem while living from the pits of despair and hopelessness. Work on getting awareness on what keeps you stuck, so that you can make a conscious decision to choose that which ultimately frees you and not what merely pacifies you.
